Green sock knitalong

What to do with a hideous crochet project that will never be finished? The greyish green colour is nice, so it shouldn't be left to rot in the box with unfinished pieces...

I know: Green Sock knitalong! Perfect solution. Now I just have to rip miles and miles of thin crochet yarn... It could take a while.

I already have an idea for the sock pattern. Looong leg, think net stocking...

Anemoi mittens

Oh my, the Anemois! They're a lot of work, but I'm sure they're worth it in the end. Just take a look at this...

As you can see, I'm not quite there yet.

Baudelaire socks

1 1/2 Baudelaire done, 1/2 to go. This is what they look like. I really love the pattern!

Clapotis finally finished

I should really apologize to my dear Clapotis for portraying it in this way. My eye for photography just wasn't working today. But here's a picture of it.

If you want to try it out for yourself, you can find the pattern here

I used the yarn Novita "Cocos".
It's more like a ribbon than a yarn. It has golden threads in it, but you can't really see those in the picture.

Joined this here thing...

Ok, so now I've joined my first webring/project/thing in knitting cyberspace.

Introduction

And yet another knitting blog is born. I hereby join the community of knitting addicts. It's nice to know that there are other people with the same disorder out there. This blog is nothing fancy, just a place where I will share my finished knitbits with whoever might be interested.

(for lining)

Instructions

Cast on 120 stitches in MC (Drops Alpaca, brown) using a provisional cast-on technique. Join in the round.

Knit 4 rounds in stockinette (knit all stitches).

Purl 1 round.

Knit 3 rounds in stockinette.

Join CC (Drops Alpaca, pink) and start knitting from the lower right corner of the chart.

gray square = MC, Brown
white square = CC, Pink

Knit chart once. Cut CC (pink).

Knit 3 rounds with MC (brown).

Purl 1 round.

Knit 4 rounds.

Cut MC and join yarn for lining (Rowan 4 ply soft).

Knit 1 round.

Knit the following rounds in K2P2 rib, i.e. knit 2 stitches, purl 2 stitches, etc.

When the lining is long enough to join with the stitches of the provisional cast-on, put the provisional stitches on a circular needle or some dpn's. When measuring the lining against the "alpaca part", please keep in mind that the purl rounds are turn rounds, i.e. that is where the fold comes.

Join the lining and the stitches of the provisional cast-on by doing a 3 needle bind-off.

NB! Darn in all ends before joining the stitches.

3 needle bind-off

Keep the stitches of the provisional cast-on behind the stitches of the lining.

Knit the first lining stitch and the first provisional stitch together.
Knit the second lining stitch and the second provisional stitch together.
Lift the first stitch over the second stitch. Just like a regular bind-off.

* Knit the following lining stitch together with the provisional stitch.
Lift first stitch over second stitch.

Repeat from * until all stitches have been worked. Cut yarn and pull through loop.

(You can also use kitchener stitch to join the stitches. A little more work, but no visible seam.)
