Help! I seem to have caught a bad case of Startitis (i.e. a constant urge to cast on new projects). Does anyone know a cure for this? The pile of works in progress is growing steadily, and I can't concentrate on one project because I'm already thinking about a new one that I really want to try out.
Here are a few recent ones.
Eunny Jang's Anemoi Mittens. These are moving along really quickly, so I hope they will keep my interest long enough to get finished. I'm loving the colors, and the pattern is just stunning.
Scarf with edging 21 and insertion 25 from The Knitted Lace Pattern Book, Thompson Bros., Kilmarnock, Scotland 1850 (phew! long name there!). From Victorian Lace Today. This is another quick one. But still, let's hope that it gets finished before Christmas...
Via Diagonale bag from Knitty. This one is a lot slower than the others. Don't know why really. I guess it's the cotton and what it's doing to the joints in my hands... I like the colors, though.
I don't really know what to do about this Startitis thing. Sure, it's a lot of fun to plan and cast on new projects, and it's not like I'll run out of yarn. But the chance of actually finishing anything gets slimmer with every new thing that makes it onto the needles...
Oh, and by the way, I've decided to only knit from my stash until I can see that it's getting smaller. No more online yarn purchases! (Do you hear that, GetKnitted online shop!! No more!) How long do you guys think I can hold out?

I think Startitis can be a good thing. I go through wave of startitis and waves of finishitis?
When I am not inspired to cast on a new project it is nice to always have something to work on while relaxing or watching movies. It is also satisfying to finish and block multiple projects in a short time, makes you feel uber productive.
I'm with you on the ever swelling stash, it is easier said than done to halt the new aquisitions ;)

Startitis has its place in any knitter's life, truly. Where would we be without some wild abandon? Your new projects look great, and at least the mittens will be finished in no time. :)
I heart those mittens!!!! The colors and the design are beautiful! I just learned the joys of shopping online and I can't seem to stop. Everybody keeps having 40% or 50% off sales, and who can resist??
A questain about the Shedir cap-variation you made earlier, Heidi ...
I really like your version, but I see it's not the same pattern as the the one in Knitty. Could you embroid about what you have done differently? The cables in the Knitty is not really cables in your, but it's knitted, not sewn on later, right? Things like that ... Is your as stretchy as the Knitty-version?
blåggdama. I actually followed the pattern in Knitty exactly, I just knitted the cables in another color. The cables are indeed knitted cables, just in another color, and not sewn on later. Just follow the Knitty pattern, do the knit stitches in one color and the purl ones in another, and you'll end up with the same thing as me. And yes, it's extremely stretchy.

Hi: I just came from ravelry and just have to say I love your knitting! Everything is beautiful. I love those mittens, I love the lace, in fact you just convinced me I need Victorian Lace Knitting. I heard a lot about it but your picture just sent me over the top and I had to put it on my favourites list. I don't have time right now to look much further but I will be back.
ps: I love that ruffled coat in vogue knitting too. I hope to get to it but right now I'm trying to get started on Silver Bell.
